I am a complex care dentist at Mount Sinai Hospital and adjunct professor at the faculty of dentistry at the university of Toronto. My academic journey has been long but unforgettable. It started in basic science and immunology, after which I spent two years in translational pre-clinical research. My undergraduate dental training was at the University of Toronto followed by a post-graduate residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. my current research interest is in understanding what it means to be an exceptional dentist as it relates to adaptability and team communication and how to better design curriculum supportive of this development. I also have a keen interest in dental technology innovation at the health system level.
My clinical philosophy is founded on professionalism, patient-centered care, and evidence-informed practice. My research philosophy aligns with the constructivist tradition and socio-material theories of learning where the emphasis is studying how contextual artefacts affect development and learning.
One of my favorite books is Watership Down by Richard Adams. On the surface a children's book, but abounds with adult themes, and written in a beautiful and truly poetic style. As for podcasts, I love Words Matter by Oliver Thompson and am a huge fan of CBC radio programming, especially Ideas and Spark.
I often spend my free time patisserie hopping (ironic I know) with some dental colleagues. We literally have a private IG group we named pastryhunters.ca. Thankfully, I love hiking and biking or else I'd be in serious trouble.
