I am a developmental pediatrician at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. I am the Head of the Division of Developmental Pediatrics and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto. A late bloomer to the Health Professions Education Research scene, I recently completed my Master’s of Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in Health Professions Education Research at the University of Toronto. My research interests focus on how the workplace context may support and constrain innovation and adaptive expertise development.
My favorite books are Stones from the River by Ursula Hegi and Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. I discovered a great podcast called “Shaped by Dog” while trying to train our 4 year old huge yellow, non-retrieving Labrador “lap dog”. As the mom of three children, boy-girl twins and another daughter, I have been busy over the past few years chauffeuring them to hockey and horseback riding escapades. Now that they are leaving the nest to start university, I decided to go back to school to fill in all that extra time I will have on my hands (haha). Like my colleague Naomi, I hope to graduate before they finish university, but if not, I’ll settle for embarrassing my daughter by enthusiastically greeting her when I see her on campus. I love relaxing at the cottage, kayaking, canoeing, and reading a good book when I have the chance.
