I am a Registered Nurse and PhD candidate in the Health Services Research program (Organization & Management Stream) at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. My doctoral work explores (1) how clinicians in stroke rehabilitation recognize and manage care for patients with complex needs, and (2) how they learn these adaptive skills.
The Wilson Centre provides me with regular opportunities to discuss current trends in health professions education, which is a core interest of mine. I frequently reflect on how I can bring insights from current research into the classroom, to better prepare learners for the realities of clinical practice.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me admiring the trees in a park – coffee in one hand and a book in the other. A recent one that I frequently recommend is Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez, especially if you’re in the mood to get fired up! I also love yoga and long walks with my chihuahua-terrier, Luna.
